RIDING RULES

  1. For all Youth classes, the age of the racer on January 1, 2025, will determine their age for the remainder of the year. A racer may move to the next higher age class in the Youth Division only if they are eligible to do so at any time during the calendar year.

  1. Riders under the age of 18 must adhere to one of the following in order to sign up at EACH event and/or practice:

    1. BOTH parents must come to sign up with valid ID’s and BOTH parents must sign the minor release.

    2. Complete the online AMA Annual Minor Release and present the release card received by the AMA at sign up.  The completion of this step allows for only 1 parent/guardian to be present at sign up. The AMA Annual Minor Release forms are found: https://americanmotorcyclist.com/racing/racing-resources/annual-release/ Please be sure to select the appropriate corresponding form (Multiple Guardians or Sole Custody) and follow ALL instructions carefully to ensure proper completion.  It is recommended that these forms be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the event to ensure appropriate processing times.  Please note, you will receive a confirmation email from the AMA that the release has been received, this first email is NOT the actual release card.  Once approved, you will receive an additional email with the annual release card included for printing.

    3. The minor release form available on the Minor Racer Requirements page can be printed, two sided, and in color to be completed by BOTH parents/guardians’ signatures and notarized. The completion of this step allows for only 1 parent/guardian to be present at sign up. This also applies to any situation where an individual other than the parent/guardian may be bringing a minor rider to the event.

    4. For any sole custody parents/guardians that do not complete the online Sole Custody AMA Annual Minor Release, proof of sole custody must be shown at sign up.

    5. Failure to comply with one of the above-mentioned approved minor release processes will result in the minor participant not being allowed to sign up. For questions or more information, please contact the PRA Secretary at hogbacksecretary@gmail.com.

  1. Parents/guardians that were present at sign up must remain at the event until the rider is finished competing.

  1. Riders must be 14 years of age to race a 250cc and must be 16 years of age to race a 450cc.

Protests must be in writing and delivered to the referee no later than 30 minutes after results have been posted. The AMA Protest Form and applicable fees apply and will be made available from the referee and from the office. For further information on protest procedures, consult the AMA rulebook.

No rider will practice with any class other than the one that was signed up for.  Failure to do this could result in disqualification from the event.  One practice ticket per rider (not per machine) will be handed out at sign up.  50cc riders will be permitted to ride bigger bikes for practice also.

  1. Riders in any 50cc class may be accompanied to the starting line by no more than one parent or guardian. In the case of an additional parent/guardian entering the course without permission from the referee, the penalty will be at a minimum, the loss of two finishing positions, up to a maximum of rider disqualification for the day.

  1. It is the rider’s responsibility to be aware of all AMA equipment rules and class specifications to avoid disqualification.

  1. All helmets must be intact, with no modifications made to their construction that alters the helmet from the condition in which it was tested and approved. The helmet is made to provide protection and is not a platform to attach foreign objects.  For example, cameras or other accessories are NOT permitted to be attached to the rider’s helmet.

  1. No refunds will be issued after practice has started.
